Dr. Linda Kirsch - Optometrist
Dr. Kirsch graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1990. Originally from south-western Ontario, she headed out after graduation to see if west was really best. Together with Dr. Anderson, she founded the first optometry practice on Salt Spring Island. In 1994 she relocated to the Warm Land after joining the longest established optometry practice in the Cowichan Valley. Over 25 years later, she can personally say that any place that allows you to practice what you love, scuba dive and down hill ski all on the same weekend (if you still can) is truly the best place to be.
Dr. Richard Anderson - Optometrist
Dr. Anderson, originally from Hamilton, Ontario, graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1990 and also heeded the call to go west. He has gained years of clinical experience in Victoria, Salt Spring Island and is proud to have firm roots in the Cowichan Valley for the last 20 years, working in both the Duncan and Mill Bay office. When not doing what he also loves, you may find him pursuing his other passion on a swim, bike or run as he trains and competes in Triathlon events in BC and Alberta.
Dr. Craig Reavley - Optometrist
Dr. Craig Reavley, originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1989, moving thereafter to Victoria to join and then acquire a well-established downtown practice. Looking for the quality of life that only the Valley can offer, he headed north in 2003 becoming a partner that same year in what is now Eye Design Optometry. He has participated in and lead teams on eye care missions in various Latin American locations and carries on this work at home with his active membership in the Duncan DayBreak Rotary Club.
Irene - Receptionist
Irene joined our Duncan office in 2000 bringing years of front desk and telephone expertise with her. Her courteous efficiency and warm smile make her the perfect person for the busy ‘hot seat’ of reception. Irene has an incurable affinity for ‘what’s new in fashion eyewear’ so you are unlikely to ever see her in the same pair from month to month!
Nicki - Licensed Optician
Nicki joined our office in 1998 and has over 30 years experience as a licensed optician. Her vast optical knowledge are an invaluable asset to patients when selecting a personalized lens design as well as frames that are both functionally appropriate and of the latest fashion. Nicki is clearly passionate about the quality of her work and outside the office, enjoys time with her other passion, another Bernese puppy!
Rachel - Optical Dispenser
Rachel already had numerous years of optical and patient care knowledge when she joined our office several years ago. She is a genuinely happy and outgoing individual who readily uses her experience to help patients narrow their search for that “perfect frame”. Outside of work, you may often find Rachel ‘up at the lake’ with her favourite “people”, both the two and the four legged kinds!
Angela- Optometric Assistant
Angela joins us from the mainland having worked for years previously as an optometric assistant in Whistler, B.C. Her confident and professional manner is clearly evident when assisting patients and answering any questions they may have while in care at our office. Personally she describes herself as ” a little city and a little country”. Her city side loves home design, always on the hunt for the next new addition to her home while appeasing her country side with a love for fishing and camping. The perfect combination for Cowichan life!
Paula - Optical Dispenser
Paula’s background in the areas of both customer care and as a personal health care assistant have proved to be a perfect combination in our office. Added to that is her engaging and genuine personality which patients welcome when needing assistance in our eye wear gallery. Spending time with family are always key factors in the daily enjoyment of Paula’s personal life, whether it be outdoors on the lake or sharing her joy of singing with her guitar in hand.
Danielle - Optical Dispenser
Danielle recently moved from the mainland in order to enjoy the quality of life afforded by living in the Cowichan Valley. She has acclimated quickly to ‘island life’ and her skill in the optical dispensary as well as helping to fill our IT needs is proving an invaluable asset to our team. Ocean boating and hiking in the valley with her 2 rescue dogs is also helping Danielle set firm roots here, a fact which everyone in the office is happy to hear.
Kassy, Optometric Assistant
Kassy is a welcome addition to our office and her proficiency and easy going manner in assisting patients in our high tech pre-test room creates a positive patient experience . Outside of work, fishing or exploring the back roads of the Cowichan Valley are the two things you’ll usually find Kassy doing. Otherwise… she’s at home hanging out with her three cats. Luckily, for an office full of dog lovers, Kassy’s warm personality over rides any ‘pet differences’ that may arise!
